Orsi has more than 30 records under his belt, distributed by the best labels worldwide. His work has been internationally renowned as one of its kind for more than a decade. In addition to his musical activities, he has always had a passion for photography, relentlessly snapping stills of everyday life with a particular eye for the moment, rather than the pose. In recent years he has toured Russia four times and collected a lot of pictures during his long travels between the cities in which he played. Postcards from Russia is the result of an arduous selection between hundreds of images which show intimate moments or everyday life, always with his unmistakable instinct for choosing the right moment to shoot the picture. The prints are accompanied by a tape of unreleased music, featuring field recordings and loops prepared for the Russian gigs, and a booklet with a preface by journalist and art critic Diana Gianquitto. Year: 2011 Record label: Boring Machines The first release of Fabio Orsi on Boring Machines is the result of his recent moving to Berlin, after living long time in Italy. The cold winter left an heavy mark on Orsi who has been stricken and enthused by the psichedelic feeling of the long Berlin winter. Covered in snow, the most remote places of the city have the same hazy feeling of the hot summer days in Salento but the glacial weather gives a different perspective and transforms the atmosphere perception. The sound of the new record is made of pure and cristalline glacial sounds (like snow) which blend themselves into long repetitive tracks (loipe) giving the listener an astounding mix of conflicting sensations. Close your eyes and you can be either in the warmest desert or on the north pole ice pack. The album comes in a precious handmade gatefold with a 12 page booklet of pictures made by Orsi.
