new album: Tristan da Cunha – Maris Stella

July 10, 2026

A promise is a promise.
I said there will be great news for the twentieth anniversary of Boring Machines, here’s the first:
Today I am releasing the new album from Tristan da Cunha entitled “Maris Stella”.

Formed as a duo in 2016, Tristan da Cunha have steadily built a distinctive and compelling body of work over the past years, releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums on some of Italy’s most respected and forward-thinking independent experimental labels.
Their music has consistently been characterized by a profound sense of solitude and sonic introspection.
Now, with their latest album Maris Stella, the project takes a significant evolutionary step forward by welcoming a new member, Nicolò Vara on viola.
This addition has allowed the group to venture deeper into the realms of post-classical composition and holy minimalism, resulting in a dense, emotionally powerful, and deeply moving album.
Maris Stella is rich in its strategic use of silences and brimming with a mysterious, almost tangible spatiality that envelops the listener in an immersive sonic architecture.

Tristan da Cunha is:
Luca Scotti – drums
Francesco Vara – guitars
Nicolò Vara – viola
